Results Round Up

Plenty more fantastic results to round up for you this week from; Oordegem Belgium, Pembrey, Loughborough, Sport City Manchester, Street Millfield, Cheltenham & Aberdare.

Saturday 29th May at Oordegem, Belgium saw SM Joseph Brier set a lifetime best for 400m of 45.84 at which was just 0.03 from breaking the club record, a qualifying time for the European U23 Championships and takes him up two places to 5th in the Welsh all time ranking lists. Congratulations Joseph.

Saturday 29th May was the Welsh Athletics pilot 5km Road Race held at Pembrey Country Park where in the mens race SM Joshua Griffiths kept his fine vein of form to win a time of 14:23; he was followed home by SM Morgan Davies also having a great run for 4rd in 14:35; 19th M35 Geraint Williams 16:07; 20th M35 Craig Jones 16:07; 21st SM Jack Turner 16:10; 33rd M60 Ifan Lloyd 16:54 and 35th M55 Thomas Guest 17.57. In the womens race we had just the one representative 8th W40 Llinos Jones finishing in a time of 19.54. Congratulations to them all on some great results.

Over the weekend of Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th May were the England/UK combined events championships held at Loughborough and it was great to see SW Lauryn Davey & U20W Carys Poole up against the very best combined events in the UK. Across the seven events of the heptathlon Lauryn recorded 15.37 100m Hurdles, 1.62m High Jump, 11.58m Shot, 26.94 200m on day 1, and on day 2 a 5.13m Long Jump, a 34.82m Javelin and a 2:25.56 800m to record a grand total of 4185 points finishing 6th overall and 2nd in Wales! Carys set performances of 17.02 for the 100m Hurdles, 1.50m High Jump, 8.46m Shot, 28.17 200m on day 1 and on day 2 set a 5.03m Long Jump, a 21.14m Javelin and a 2:25.32 800 to amass 3891 points finishing 15th overall and 2nd in Wales! Very many congratulations on two days of very hard work, time for them to put their feet up for 48 hours!

Saturday 29th May at Sport City, Manchester in the British Milers club SM Guy Smith runs 3:46.72 for 1500m. Well done Guy!

Saturday 29th May at the Street British Milers Club fixture we had the five runners going over the 1500m and one in the steeplechase; In the 1500m U17M Charlie Harris runs 4:21.61; U17W Ella Davies 5:02.32; U17W Mai Davies 5:10.60; U13G Libby Hale 4:59.65 and U13G Millie Pierce 5:21.40. Then in the 3000m Steeplechase SM Jonathan Hopkins set a very quick time of 8:36.30 his fastest for 3 years just missing out on the Commonwealth Games qualification A standard, Well done everyone!

Saturday 29th May was the Cheltenham Harriers Open Meeting SW Caryl Granville recorded a very fast time for 400m Hurdles clocking 57.4 her fastest in four years and a 14.1 100m Hurdles; U15G Ava Davies runs 5:15.8 for 1500m; U15G Ruby Jones runs 15.2 for the 100m and jumps a 1.35m High Jump; U15G Matilda Quick sets a 12.6 for 75m Hurdles and a 1.50m High Jump; U15G Efa Williams 15.2 75m Hurdles, 12.69m in the discus and a 6.39m Shot; U15B Harry Collins records 13.5 for the 80m Hurdles and a 4.57m Long Jump; SW Millicent Fakande sets 27.0 in the 200m; W40 Catherine Collins sets a 6.45m Shot and U17W Lucy Harris 28.42m Discus throw and a 27.03m Javelin. Well done all!

Sunday 30th May was the U17 & U20 Youth Development League round 1 held at Aberdare and it was absolutely fantastic to see some junior team athletics back. The provisional results (subject to scrutiny) show the team coming home in 2nd:
