Results Round Up

This week we have results to round up for you from Copenhagen Denmark, Birmingham, Swansea, Watford, Newport, Stratford & Cheltenham, including 3 all time club records SM 100m x 2, U13G 800m and maybe a fourth in the U17M Pole Vault.

Tuesday 8th June M35 Dai Greene runs a 51.93 to finish 2nd in the Copenhagen Athletics Games in Denmark, well done Dai!

Wednesday 9th June SM Jonathan Hopkins runs another very quick 8:36.50 for the 3000m Steeplechase at Birmingham University to finish 2nd and very close again to that Commonwealth Games A standard, well done Jonathan!

Wednesday 9th June was the second closed indoor Pole Vault competition for Swansea Harriers members only at home where 13 of our vaulters were in action recording the following heights: U17M  William Trott 4.20m; U17M Harry Newton 3.10m; U17W Millie Carter 3.10m; U17M Dafydd King 3.10m; U17M Joseff Lewis 3.00m; U15G Amy Beynon 2.70m; U15B Charlie Shuall 2.60m; U15B Oliver Philpott 2.50m; U15B Theo Oshisanya 2.20m; U13B Tyler Davies 2.20m; U15B Louis Shuall 2.00m; U15G Seren Anderson-James 1.90m and U13G Ruby Campion 1.70m. Very well done to them all!

Saturday 12th June at the British Milers Club match at Watford SM Joseph Brier runs 46.32 finishing 3rd in the 400m and SM Guy Smith records 3.47.01 finishing 11th in 1500m, well done both.

The weekend of Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th June saw a handful of our juniors make the trip along the M4 to compete at Newport in the Welsh Athletics open meeting, where it proved to be a weekend of mixed fortunes. The athletes who had the best day was U13G Libby Hale who set an all time club record in the 800m recording a time of 2.20.60 which was also the 4th fastest time ever for an U13G in Wales, well done Libby! Our only U13B present was Ruairi Harris who ran 13.68 in the 100m.

U17M Jacob Dowling ran 14.37 100m; Josh Kenny 24.35 200m; Matthew Lewis 2:11.45 800m; Joshua Pritchard 2:18.66 800m; Samuel Davies 1.75m High Jump; Joseph Beresford 1.65m High Jump; Macsen Holland 44.99m Javelin and George Snaith 44.57m Javelin.

U17W Lucy Harris 29.33m Discus; Katie Lake 25.80m Discus; Ruby Jones 44.09m Hammer; Rebekah Pratt 29.45m Hammer; 22.16m Emilia Evans Hammer and Chloe Jones 36.01m Javelin.

Note that the pole vault results have been omitted from the older age groups at Newport at time of posting, from recollection provisional results were U17W Millie Carter 3.05m; U17M Harry Newton 3.20m, U17M Dafydd King 2.95m and most significantly U17M William Trott 4.21m which if ratified will be a new all time club record, well done William! We will confirm all these in next weeks results round up.

Sunday 13th  June at the Newham & Essex Beagles sprints and hurdles open meeting at Stratford where SM Daniel Beadsley not only broke the all time club record for 100m, but did so twice just for good measure, in the space of just a couple of hours recording 10.36 & 10.37, phenomenal, well done Daniel! SW Hannah Brier set her fastest time for 5 years finishing 2nd over the 100m in a time of 11.51 and into a strong headwind too, well done Hannah!

Sunday 13th June was the Cheltenham Running Festival where M35 Craig Jones placed an excellent 3rd in the 10km finishing in 35:48 a lifetime best and M50 Simon Brewer placed 18th in 39:04, well done both!
