Weekly Update Wednesday 2nd September

This week we have more non virtual results from Aberdare, Chelmsford and Yeovil. The club has also updated our Covid-19 protocols document that must be adhered to on club nights, including changes to social distancing for track event athletes. Our overriding priority remains keeping all our members as safe as possible. We greatly appreciate how all our volunteers and athletes have collectively worked together during these unprecedented times. This website will continue to be updated weekly as Covid-19 protocols and procedures change.

Saturday 29th August was the Welsh Athletics endurance open meeting at Aberdare for the U17 to seniors age groups. The club was well represented by the fourteen members that were quick enough to enter before all races sold out. In the 3000m walk U20W Shannon Thomas set a time of (18.38.66) which was also a PB. The 800m saw SM Nathan Phillips finish in (2.09.66) and SW Jodi Beynon in (2.23.25) which was to be her first of three personal bests in one day! In the 3000m we had our largest number of competitors with seven Swansea Harriers taking to the start line. Quickest of the bunch was as suspected SM Guy Smith (8.25.53) followed in descending order of time by U20M Nathan Jones (9.00.86) a PB!; U17M Aled Tumelty (9.50.36); M50 Paul Flynn gets better with age setting a lifetime best of (10.07.59); M60 Ifan Lloyd (10.23.29); U20W Ashleigh Willis (10.48.79) and U17W Ella Davies with a PB of (11.39.04). The final event was the 1500m where we had four runners; u15B Charlie Harris (4.34.52); U15B Matthew Lewis (4.57.26); a personal best was set by U20W Carys Jones (5.07.31) and U15G Mai Davies (5.26.46). Congratulations to them all!

Saturday 29th August was the Yeovil open meeting where SW Jodi Beynon after competing in Aberdare before noon, somehow made it to Yeovil in time to set two further lifetime bests of (10.66m) Shot & (22.34m) in the Javelin, to round off a great days work, and U17W Emily Collins threw (32.18m) in the Hammer.

Sunday 30th August in the South Of England Covid Games at Chelmsford SW Risqat Fabunmi-Alade ran three rounds of the 100m to win the final in a wind assisted (11.67), well done Risquat!
