On track last night for Wales and Swansea Harriers was Elinor Kirk in the womens 10,000m final where she had a superb run to finish 9th in (33.22.40), Elinor can be very proud of her achievement in a race with some on and off track World medalists from Kenya where she was just 5 seconds away from breaking her own all time personal best.

Wednesday 19th July at Swansea University saw the U11 & U13 team retain their title for the 4th year in a row in the triangular series V Llanelli V Neath, on warm evening 129 athletes participated in a great grassroots competition with over 30 volunteers from all three clubs doing a great job to make the meeting happen during the schools holidays, very many congratulations to all those athletes who participated in any of the three matches and thanks

The first two of Swansea Harriers Super 6 to get underway were our womens 100m runners, who had a great day at Glasgow, where they were up against some of the best sprinters in the world including Olympic Medalists!

The Welsh U13 & U15 Championships are being held at Swansea, SA2 8QB on Sunday 3rd August. Entries have closed and late entries are not accepted. As this is a National Championships it is part of the rules that you must report no later than 90 minutes before your first event.

Apart from seeing them last night on TV in the opening ceremony of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, make sure you tune in to watch Swansea Harriers "Super 6" for their races from Sunday to give them all the support we can! The very best of luck from everyone at the club! Lets hope they can all progress through all the rounds to the finals.

Saturday 19th July saw the U17 British Schools Athletics International being held at Cardiff and it was great to see ten of the clubs members making the Wales International team, it would have been 4 more too if it had not been for holidays, warm weather training and injuries! All ten performed exceptionally well against the top 2 juniors from the home nations of England, Scotland and Ireland.

Saturday 12th July saw the U11, U13 & U15 team finish the league matches and retain all 3 sections of the Welsh Junior League West Division at Brecon, the team now progresses to the Welsh cup Final at Newport on Sunday 17th August where they will be up against Wales top 8 junior clubs.

DONT MISS THE CLOSING DATE FOR The Swansea Junior Games which are back on Sunday 14th September 2014, open to athletes from all clubs in the U11, U13, U15 & U17 age groups. It was back in the 1980’s and 1990’s that Morfa Stadium hosted a major junior meeting in Swansea over a period of 15 years with the fixture attracting over 600 competitors on many occasions making it one of the largest open meetings on the calendar and one which saw big name athletes such as Colin Jack

Wednesday 2nd July was the Welsh Masters League at Swansea where there were many unbelievable performances, in a great nights athletics there were overall winning performances from ; U15B Jordan Draisey (12.0) 100m; U20M Jonathan Tobin (1.56.4) 800m; U17M Scott Harris (1.78m) High Jump; U15B Scott Hill (10.78m) Shot and U20W Carys Smith (41.69m) Hammer, all these performances came from guest athletes in the junior age groups, however it was great to see so many of
