Peter Woollard

The club regrets to advise that Peter Woollard died last week after a long period of ill health. As a longtime member of Swansea Harriers previous members may remember him as an early member and one time Treasurer. The funeral is this coming Friday 25th July at 1.30pm at Mount Pleasant Church, Grovesend followed by service at Rhyd Goch cemetery at Pontardulais at 2.30pm.

Saturday 19th July saw the U17 British Schools Athletics International being held at Cardiff and it was great to see ten of the clubs members making the Wales International team, it would have been 4 more too if it had not been for holidays, warm weather training and injuries! All ten performed exceptionally well against the top 2 juniors from the home nations of England, Scotland and Ireland.

U17 & U20 Youth Development League @ Swansea 27.07.14

Sunday 27th July at home in Swansea sees the 4th and final round of the U17 & U20 Premier 1 Division Youth Development League. There is a full programme of event disciplines.

Results Round Up From Brecon, Cardiff, Birmingham & Trafford

Saturday 12th July saw the U11, U13 & U15 team finish the league matches and retain all 3 sections of the Welsh Junior League West Division at Brecon, the team now progresses to the Welsh cup Final at Newport on Sunday 17th August where they will be up against Wales top 8 junior clubs.

DONT MISS THE CLOSING DATE FOR The Swansea Junior Games which are back on Sunday 14th September 2014, open to athletes from all clubs in the U11, U13, U15 & U17 age groups. It was back in the 1980’s and 1990’s that Morfa Stadium hosted a major junior meeting in Swansea over a period of 15 years with the fixture attracting over 600 competitors on many occasions making it one of the largest open meetings on the calendar and one which saw big name athletes such as Colin Jack

U11 & U13 Triangular Match at Swansea on 23.07.14

The 3rd and final fixture of the U11 & U13 Triangular Series V Llanelli V Neath is at home in Swansea on Wednesday 23rd July. The club can enter an unlimited amount of athletes in every event. If you are willing and available to compete all you need to do is just turn up on the evening at least 30 minutes before your first chosen event. Should the team retain the trophy there will be a team photo at the conclusion of the final relay.

Wednesday 2nd July was the Welsh Masters League at Swansea where there were many unbelievable performances, in a great nights athletics there were overall winning performances from ; U15B Jordan Draisey (12.0) 100m; U20M Jonathan Tobin (1.56.4) 800m; U17M Scott Harris (1.78m) High Jump; U15B Scott Hill (10.78m) Shot and U20W Carys Smith (41.69m) Hammer, all these performances came from guest athletes in the junior age groups, however it was great to see so many of

Friday 27th to Sunday 30th June were the Senior British Championships incorporating the European Athletics Trials at Birmingham, and once again it was great to see so many of our members up against the best of British Seniors, it turned out to be a successful day too, with many making the finals.
